Year 6 Visit the Stockport Air-Raid Shelter

Just before the end of this term, Year 6 visited the Stockport Air Raid Shelter to experience what life was like for those forced to shelter during the many air-raids of the Second World War in inner cities across the country, and how it felt to be a child evacuee during this period.

Staff and pupils played their roles true to the era, which helped to bring out both the practicalities and emotions of each situation. The class was also taught about rationing and aspects of everyday life in wartime Britain, during a day that proved to be very informative and enjoyable.
