A Day in the Life of an Infant School child at Moor Allerton
The day begins at 8.30am as I eagerly line up with my friends and listen for the bell to ring. I follow my teacher into our classroom and I empty my bag putting my reading folder, drink and snack in the correct trays and hang up my coat in the cloakroom. I then look at the morning challenge on the interactive white board, which could be anything exciting such as creating a Chinese New Year poster or reading a new book.
Soon it is time to put our blazers on for our Rainbow Assembly where there are awards for good work and behaviour and an exciting story. We can also win the class cuddly toy to take home for the weekend.
We return to our classroom for Literacy and from our plan from yesterday we write our own version of The Ginger Bread Man in a mini booklet. Mrs Adams our Teacher Assistant helps me.
Before playtime we all have a bottle of milk and then go out into the front with our bag of playground equipment.
We return to our classroom for Numeracy where we can play number games and use fun apparatus to support our learning in our maths books.
We go and wash our hands before lunch and walk to the hall for a nutritious meal of halal or non-halal chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, gravy or a vegetarian lasagne and rice pudding or fruit for dessert. When we have finished our meal we go out to play with our friends.
The afternoon begins with French and we are learning about days and months at the moment. Next is P.E. with a specialist teacher in the dance studio, where we are developing a dynamic dance about a book we read in Literacy called Handa’s Surprise and I am an ostrich! When we return to our classroom we learn about Sikhism in R.E. with Mrs Singh from the other Year One class.
It is now time for our afternoon healthy snack and after short break outside, it is show and tell, pack our bags with homework and then get changed for Judo, one of many after school clubs.
